How to Deal With an Overdue Pregnancy

Waiting nine whole months for your baby's birth seems like an eternity. Those last few weeks seem to creep by and every cramp and contraction sends a shiver of excitement through you, "my labor has started!" When your due date comes and goes, your excitement about the impending birth lessens and your mood changes. The word "induction" comes into your vocabulary and the waiting game resumes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Keep your obstetrician or midwife apprised of your condition. They will help you make the proper decisions regarding an overdue pregnancy. Chances are you will be seeing your doctor on your due day and she will know if you are dilating. At some point, having your pregnancy induced will become a necessity.
Step2
Get your mind off of your overdue baby. If your pregnancy is normal and you are not on bed-rest, leave your house and keep busy.
Step3
Schedule a pedicure, manicure or a facial. This will be the last time you can do this by yourself with complete peace of mind. Enjoy that your baby is giving you a little bit more "me" time.
Step4
Take your husband to dinner and celebrate the birth of your baby before he is born. Once you know that your induction is scheduled, you will feel a bit less pressure and can relax more.
Step5
Use this time to prepare some meals and freeze them. If your overdue baby is doing fine and you are waiting for an induction, use this time to get some things done.
