How to Create a Black Lace Logo in Fireworks

One of the identifying symbols of a ompany or organization is their logo. Being able to create a logo yourself can often save you a large expense. Fireworks can allow you to create one on your PC. Here is an example of the steps that you can use to create your very own logo.

      Create a new file in Fireworks. Begin by opening Fireworks and once it loads, choose File>New.

      Define the canvas size and color. Choose a setting of 300 width and 300 height. This size can be changed once the logo is finished if it needs to be smaller. Select the canvas color that you need for the background of your logo. The custom color choice can be chosen by clicking on the colored box just below the radio button that is named Custom. A color palette will open and allow you to select the color you would like to choose as a background. Once you have chosen the background click the OK button.

      Select the Rectangle tool from the toolbar and draw a rectangle on the canvas the size that you need for your logo.

      Change the characteristics of the tools by adjusting the properties listed along the left side of the drawing canvas. In the Colors section click in the box next to the picture of a pen. This will open a color palette, select black by clicking on the color swatch. Next click the box next to the paint bucket picture. When the color palette opens, click on the Fill Options button and select None in the drop menu in the first option. To finalize the selection click back on a point on your canvas outside the box that is open.

      Draw a rectangle using the Rectangle tool on the canvas that is the correct size to hold your logo.

      Apply the border to the rectangle by adjusting the Strake items in the Properties box at the bottom of the screen. Adjust the settings to be the following: Color - black, Tip Size - 12, Stroke Category - Unnatural> Toxic Waste, Edge Softness - 75.

      Select the Text tool found on the left side of the canvas in the section labeled Vector. The Text tool is the one that looks like the letter A. Move the cursor to the inside of the black lace border, click the mouse and type your name.

      Move your cursor to the uppermost left of the toolbar and select the arrow icon. Now move the arrow back to the text box and adjust the position of the text by clicking on the box with the arrow and while still holding the mouse button down move the text on the canvas. Release the button when you are happy with the position of the text.

      Adjust the properties of the text by changing the selections at the bottom of the screen. Select the Color, Font, and Size of the text.

      Crop your logo by selecting the Crop tool located in the top section of the toolbar at the left and diagonal from the arrow tool that is currently selected. Once you have selected the crop limits and are satisfied with the position of the dotted line around your logo, double click the mouse within the dotted line.

      Save and Export your logo. Select File>Save As and name your logo and select where you want to save the file. To export your logo, Select File>Export. Select the type of file to export as Image Only and name the logo. Now click Save.
