3
Explain your needs. Lead with a sentence or two as to why you need a large monitor. An example may be that you work with numbers all day and the spreadsheets would be easier to read if the monitor was bigger.

List the benefits to your boss. Explain how a large computer monitor for you help you and your boss. If you can quantify the benefit, even better. For example, explain that your productivity would increase by 25 percent because you would be able to keep two windows open simultaneously, thus saving time.

5
Discuss what it will cost your boss to purchase a large computer monitor. Make sure your research is thorough. List at least three options, recommending the best choice. This will show that you've done your homework.
-
6
Present your proposal at the right time. It is best to wait until your boss is not harried and appears receptive to ideas. The middle of a crisis might not be the best time to present a proposal for a large monitor.

Tips & Warnings
Be prepared to explain why you, and not the rest of the employees, should have a larger monitor. Sometimes to keep the peace, a boss may turn your request down because other employees-who didn't do the research-want to reap the benefits of your coup.
