The details of the wedding are all coming together beautifully. You've got your venue, the caterer is hired and you even managed to finally pick a dress. Now it's down to the details. One of the final things you will work on for your wedding is the program. Here are some tips on how to compile it!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Finalize your wedding. This is one of the final steps because in order to really compile your wedding program, all decisions pertaining to it must be completed. It includes everyone in your wedding, the music which will be played and the order of the ceremony. As you plan your wedding, keep a running tally of everyone and their job on the big day. That way when you go to compile the wedding program you won't be scrambling for everyone's name and title.
Step2
Purchase wedding program software or visit template sites. Exclusivelyweddings.com or theorganizedwedding.com are two sites from which you can create your programs. Other sites offer actual downloads to your computer. It's just like purchasing any other software. For a few bucks you can download it in no time! Using these interfaces you can do everything from simply listing the names and event order at your wedding, to even compiling and printing the entire program! Browse around the online tutorial to see which program you find easiest to use. If you don't quite take to those, there are also many others available which you can find by browsing through your favorite search engine!
Step3
Double check the spelling. As you input information, even if you think you've spelled everything correctly, check again. The names of friends and family are tricky enough. Toss in songs being performed with foreign names and you could easily find yourself with half a dozen typos. This is a tedious task, but one which will save you a giant headache down the line.
Step4
Create a sample layout. Again this step comes down to personal preference and will be best utilized if you have purchased software. Usually one page is dedicated to the people in the wedding and their job title. This starts from the most important (the bride and groom) down to the smallest job (which may be the ushers.) Then on the following page or pages, lay out the ceremony as it will occur in detail. Following this, some people like to add a special "thank you" for the attending guests, or a remembrance for a member of family who has passed away, or even a poem that is of great importance to you. Again, there truthfully are no rules. Think about the mosaic of your entire day and how the wedding program will fit into it. Congratulations, you have just learned how to compile your wedding program!

Tips & Warnings

  • Experiment with shapes. If you are having a themed wedding say, by the beach, it might be cute to have your program look like a sand-castle. You get the idea. Use your imagination!
  • Purchase fine paper. Even if you are printing the wedding programs at home on your printer (which will save a lot of money), purchasing high class paper will go a long way to setting your wedding program apart.
