While a video game may not be able to completely duplicate the excitement of a back and forth rally on the tennis court, Wii Sports offers a tennis game that simulates the basics of tennis without all the running. Learn how to play and with a little practice you can become a Wii tennis pro.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Insert the Wii Sports disc into your Nintendo Wii, choose "Wii Sports" from the menu and then "Wii Tennis."

  2. Step 2

Place the strap on the Wii remote around your wrist and tighten it to prevent the Wii remote from slipping from your hand. This is important because the Wii remote can be easy to throw while you play, causing damage to your Wii remote or television.

  3. Step 3

Hold the Wii remote just like a tennis racket with four fingers on the back of the remote and your thumb anchoring the remote on the other side.

  4. Step 4

Swing gently as the ball approaches your player. Wii will automatically put your player in front of the ball, so all you have to do is concentrate on swinging. Timing is important. Swing sooner or later depending on which side of the court you want the ball to go.

  5. Step 5

Swing the remote to your right when the ball is on your right and swing the remote to your left when the ball is on your left. The backhand is harder and may require more practice.

  6. Step 6

Hit the tennis ball hard by swinging the remote faster for a line drive. For a lob, swing slower.

  7. Step 7

Serve by swinging the Wii remote up and then hit the ball by swinging it back down. You can also toss the ball up by hitting the "A" button.

on 10/12/2007 It's all in the wrist. I learned the hard way and was sore the first few times I played. You don't need to use your whole body to swing.
