The card game War you played as a child is now a widely popular casino game. While War is one of the easiest card games in the casino, it also has some of the worst odds. Still, it's a fun card game and could win you big money if you hit a hot streak. To play Casino War, follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a casino that offers War.

  2. Step 2

Ask how many decks you are playing with. Most Casino War games are played with six decks, and cards come out of an automatic shuffler. Cards are ranked according to their poker value. Ace is high. The suit of the card does not matter.

  3. Step 3

Place your bet on the table. Look for a table sign that specifies the minimum and maximum bet.

  4. Step 4

Get your card from the dealer. The dealer will then deal himself a card. If your card is higher than the dealer's, you win. If it is lower, you lose. If the cards are the same, then you can elect to lose half your bet or challenge the dealer to "war."

  5. Step 5

Double your initial bet to go to "war." The dealer will set aside, or burn, three cards before giving you and herself each a card. If your second card beats or ties her second card, then you win even money on your second bet and get your original bet back. If you card is lower, you lose both bets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prior to going to "war," you can submit a bet that yours and the dealer's card will tie. This bet carries 10-to-1 odds, meaning if you bet $1, you'd win $10.
  • Playing War on the playground was a harmless pastime, but gambling for money can become addictive. Bet sensibly, and seek help if you show signs of addiction.
