How to Use MySpace as a Tool to Promote a Book

MySpace is one of the largest websites online that has millions of users. Not only is it a place for families and friends, but now movies, comedians, actors, musicians and more are appearing online to appeal to the next generation of Internet users. Myspace is free to join, and is an easy place for free marketing. Using social networking websites are a popular way to market your business and an easy first tool to use when beginning your efforts in advertising.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with access to the Internet
  • Personal book information or list of published books
  1. Step 1

    Go to MySpace and create an account. Follow the screen instructions until you have opened up your account.

  2. Step 2

    Write about your books, goals, and achievements that you have accomplished as a writer. List some of your books that are currently for sale or that will be published soon.

  3. Step 3

    Provide links to online websites where your books are available for purchase. Also add links to any personal websites that are about your writing as well.

  4. Step 4

    Add pictures of the covers of your books. If you are going on any book tours, or having any book signings, provide dates of those as well.

  5. Step 5

    Browse for groups that have writers or those that are authors who are promoting their books. Add other members of those groups as friends and speak with them about tips and ideas for promoting your book.

  6. Step 6

    Keep your blog up to date by adding information about upcoming book publishings, tour dates, and newsletter information. If you have a newsletter, be sure to let readers know how they can join to stay up to date with news about your books and latest information.

  7. Step 7

    Include contact information for those who would want to contact you for book signings and appearances.
