Step 1
Tag your web pages. Title tags are often overlooked; that is, the tag at the top of every web page. A good title with searchable keywords will do more to boost your rank that just about anything.
-
Step 2
Pack your pages with searchable content. Most search engines don't search images. A web page or website that is comprised of mostly graphics and little or no text provides no searchable framework for search engines.
-
Step 3
Design your site to be accessible. The most searchable and therefore most marketable websites are accessible. Coding for accessibility means paying more attention to the code behind your website. The end result is a website that performs better in searches.
-
Step 4
Scrutinize your content. General language on a website generally leads to poor search results. Specific language leads to better results. Pay attention to your linked phrases. Every element of your web page has value. "Click here" as a link is a wasted link. It's also not accessible. Make your links descriptive and use keywords.
-
Step 5
Learn to read and understand your server traffic reports. If a business is not being found by keywords which describe or pertain to it, its website content should be changed and retested.
