How to Build a Gravity Bong

A gravity bong is a good means of concentrating lots of dense smoke into a closed container with the help of some water and, as the name suggests, gravity. While building a gravity bong may seem and sound like a complicated process, it actually takes little skill and requires just a few household items. Even without much practice, you can build an effective gravity bong in just minutes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Plastic bottle
  • Aluminum foil
  • Lighter or matches

Step1
Remove the cap from an empty plastic soda or water bottle. Make a small hole about the diameter of a pencil 2 or 3 inches from the bottom of the bottle. You can punch the hole by using a sharp knife or hold the flame of a lighter to the bottle just long enough for the flame to burn a hole.
Step2
Cut a piece of aluminum foil about 2 by 2 inches (large enough to cover the circumference of the bottle's mouth and overlap it a little). Cover the mouth of the bottle with the foil and secure the material onto the bottle by wrapping the foil onto the neck of the bottle.
Step3
Use a needle or the tip of a pen to poke small holes into the foil. Poke as many holes as possible in the foil without tearing the material. The holes will be used to draw smoke from the top side of the foil into the container beneath it.
Step4
Remove the foil covering from the gravity bong and plug the hole at the bottom of the bottle with your finger or a piece of cloth. Fill the bottle with water until it's about 90 percent full.
Step5
Replace the foil covering over the mouth of the bottle. Place smoking material such as tobacco on top of the foil. To activate the gravity bong, simply hold a flame to the smoking material and unplug the bottom hole of the container over a sink. Let the suction created by the spilling water draw concentrated smoke into the container part of the gravity bong.
Step6
Once the container is filled with smoke, remove the foil covering from the bottle's opening and smoke from the container.
