Congratulations graduate! You probably received a lot of gifts from friends and family congratulating you on your graduation. Now you just have to write your thank you notes to let them all know how much you appreciate their thoughtfulness. Here are a few tips to help you get those thank you notes written and sent.

From Quick Guide: Giving Thanks with a Note
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thank you notes
  • Envelopes
  • Stamps
  1. Step 1

Buy thank you notes from a party store or make your own. Party stores have a large selection from which to choose. You can also make your own on the computer or from stationery paper.

  2. Step 2

Write thank you notes to people such as coaches and teachers who were especially helpful throughout your school years. Don't limit the cards to those who gave you gifts.

  3. Step 3

Sort through your graduation gifts, and place the card that came with each gift by the gift. Keeping a list as you receive gifts will help you keep track of to whom you need to send thank you notes.

  4. Step 4

Describe specifically how you plan to use the graduation gift. Tell what you plan to buy with gift cards. People want to know that their gift is being used and appreciated. Let people know how their gift will help you with college or your future job.

  5. Step 5

Address all envelopes, place stamps on envelopes and stuff envelopes with the thank you note. Now you are ready to mail your graduation thank you notes. Try to mail them within a week or two of receiving them, but definitely no more than a month later.

Tips & Warnings
  • Write your graduation thank you notes before you use the gifts. This will motivate you to get your thank you notes written.
  • Be sure to write at least five to seven lines in your thank you note.

on 6/10/2008 I tell young people to also include in their thank you notes what their graduation meant to them and what they plan on doing in the future such as going to college and which one, moving to another city or state, starting a new job, etc.
