Whether your guests are staying overnight or spending a week in your home, it is always a nice idea to make them feel as welcome as possible. Little things, like putting your guest's favorite soap in the bathroom, can make any guest feel like they are welcome in your home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Toiletries
  • Books
  • Slippers
  • Entertainment
  • Spare keys

Step1
Know what your guests like. Find out before your guests arrive what their favorite foods are, what kinds of books they like and even the type of shampoo they use. With this knowledge, you have just about everything you need to make a guest feel welcome.
Step2
Prepare a gift basket. Using what you know about your guest, put together a gift basket to place in their room before their arrival. A few paperbacks, some toiletries and perhaps a nice warm pair of slippers will make any room in your home feel like a five-star hotel.
Step3
Buy fresh flowers. Fresh flowers are a great way to spiffy up a guest room and will make your guests feel special. Try flowers with little or no perfume to them in case your guest is sensitive to smells.
Step4
Entertain them. Nothing is worse than going to a person's house and feeling like you need to stay in your room the whole time. Make your guests feel even more welcome by including them in activities such as outings, movies or even board games.
Step5
Allow them to come and go as they please. Any guest who is staying a length of time in your home likes to know that they can leave and return as they please to enjoy the benefits of your hometown. Providing your guests with a spare key will not only allow them this freedom but will also keep you from having to wait up for them to return from a late movie.

Tips & Warnings

  • Travel-sized toiletries are inexpensive and perfect for adding to your guest bathroom. This way your guests can take them home when they leave.
  • Don't overdo it. While some individuals love all the extra attention, others might want to just feel like part of the family and not an honored guest.
