Problems with your email account can be frustrating, especially when email is your main method of communication. For Comcast customers, dealing with email difficulties is easy. With these few simple steps you can troubleshoot your email problems and get back to being connected.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the main problem. Whether you're having difficulty sending or receiving messages, have low storage availability, can't receive or attach files or any other usage problem, it's important to definitively identify exactly what is causing you grief.

  2. Step 2

Check your Internet connection and ensure it is running properly. Restart your computer as well to ensure it's not just a temporary glitch and check all the connections from your modem to your computer.

  3. Step 3

Visit the Comcast email help page if your computer is connected and operating properly. You can access the help page by logging in to your email account and choosing "Help" from the main screen menu.

  4. Step 4

Browse the help topics and look for one that relates to the problems you are having. If you are using another email client such as Outlook to download your messages, make sure to check in this topic area as well. Comcast's help topics give detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot your problems.

  5. Step 5

Utilize Comcast's Desktop Doctor to troubleshoot your email problem. You can download and use this free service by logging in to your email account and choosing the "Help" link. There will be a Desktop Doctor link on the main Help page. This free, downloadable tool stores your working email settings and leads you through detailed steps to restore them should you have an issue.

  6. Step 6

Contact Comcast customer service if the previous steps do not resolve your issue. Comcast employs a knowledgeable and trained staff to assist you with any difficulties you may have with their products and services. You can contact them by phone, email or online chat from the main email help page.

I spent four hours, yes, 4, on the phone with Comcast and via live chat last Saturday morning. No one knew what to do. I finally got a lady who did and re-did everything several times until the problem corrected itself. That part took a hal...
