2
Beat the egg yolks in a small bowl with an electric mixer until it's thick. The process could take approximately eight to ten minutes.

3
Get a larger bowl and beat the butter and slowly add in 3/4 cup of sugar. Add in the vanilla, the lemon peel and the egg yolk.
-
4
Blend together the cornstarch, flour and salt in a large bowl. Mix in the butter and egg concoction.
-
5
Beat egg whites and steadily add 1/4 cup of sugar. Mix it into the batter.

6
Grease and flour an eight inch pan. Spread 1/3 cup of the batter onto the pan. Broil it until the top is turning brown while rotating it to ensure that it's browning evenly. Remove it and spread another 1/3 cup of batter on top. Broil again until it becomes the same level of brown as the previous layer. Repeat this process until you run out of batter.

7
Let the cake cool for 15 minutes, and then remove it from the pan. Proceed to let the cake cool completely.
-
8
Mix together the powdered sugar, milk and rum extract until it becomes the consistency of a glaze. Use this rum glaze to cover the cake after it has cooled.
