Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Watch a beginner or introduction to wakeboarding video first. While watching, pay close attention to the instructions and body language of the experts. Learn by watching their moves.

  2. Step 2

Re-watch the beginner film. Take notes this time about body positions and special instructions, tips and/or warnings issued by the instructor.

  3. Step 3

Watch the video once again. This time have the wakeboard in hand and attempt some of the basic steps in front of the television. Learn by putting these moves into practice.

  4. Step 4

Perform the moves from the written instructions in front of a full length mirror. Watch the video closely to insure that the moves being performed match those of the expert examples.

  5. Step 5

Once basic moves have been mastered as much as possible through television instruction, it is time to move on to more advanced instructional materials. There are films and books that address various stages of instruction and skill. Keep learning and adding new moves, steps, and stunts to your repertoire until comfortable putting these new skills into practice.

  6. Step 6

Practice the moves learned in the video on a skateboard, surfboard or snowboard, according to personal preference and seasonal availability.

  7. Step 7

Get out there on the water and put these new moves, skills and techniques into practice. More importantly; have fun.
