Learning the vocabulary of any sport is an important step in becoming part of that sporting community. Just like any other sport, the ski bike community uses a set of words that have specific meanings and are critical to interacting with other members of the snow BMX community. A few simple steps will give you a solid introduction to the words and terms of snow BMX racing. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a general introduction to ski bike terms by brushing up on your ski bike history. The American Ski Bike Association features a history section on its website which will provide you with some of the more important words and definitions of the sport.

  2. Step 2

Stay up to date with ski bike media. While an introduction to the history of ski biking will give you a broad survey of important words and terms, only current media can provide a good education about contemporary ski bike words. So check out magazine like "Ski Bike Magazine" or "Ski bikers On The Piste" for current sources of ski bike terminology.

  3. Step 3

Speak ski bike. Using new words in ski bike environments is the fastest and most effective way to pick up new words and ensure that you use them correctly. Enter discussion forums dedicated to snow BMX, and don't be afraid to attempt to speak the lingo. Others may correct your usage but that's the best way to learn.

  4. Step 4

Use other ski bike enthusiasts as human dictionaries. Since you won't find a comprehensive listing of ski bike words and their definitions, the best source to find out about specific words are people who already know and use ski bike jargon. Ask questions on ski bike forums, blogs and even magazines about word usage. You might end up contributing to the advance of ski bike language by sparking an interesting linguistic debate.
