How to Attend a Rave

Raves are parties where the music flows and the lights flash. The enclosed parties generally pack in several hundred partiers. While raves are traditionally known for open drug use, there is no need to use drugs in order to attend a rave party. Read on to learn more.

1. Dress the part. Have fun when dressing to attend a rave. Dress in outlandish outfits or in a wildly exaggerated version of your own style. Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to dance freely. Bring extra makeup along for touch ups.

2. Get friends to attend with you as a group. Remember that there is often drug use at raves and the safety of a group is called for. Stay with your group instead of going off alone. Stay at the party where you and your friends can keep track of each other.

3. Bring glow sticks to the party if they are expected. Ask whether most people at the rave will have glow sticks or be wearing glow jewelry.

4. Be prepared for loud music. Listen to the rhythm of the music. Dance exuberantly and don't worry if anyone's watching. Sing along and express yourself through dance.

5. Bring your invitation with you if you were sent one. Get in by presenting your invitation. Give up your keys if it's required for safe driving purposes.

6. Bring a cell phone. Arrange for a designated driver, but call for a ride if the designated driver doesn't stay sober. Make sure the members of your group can get home safely.
