Determine if your sedan is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. You can find the length of your warranty in the packet of sales papers the automobile dealership gave you upon purchase of the sedan.

Call your dealership and price the repairs and maintenance you need for your sedan. Or call other dealerships that sell your make of sedan for pricing information.

Ask friends and neighbors for a referral to a reputable private mechanic that they use, or look in the phone book for local mechanics in your area. Always use a reputable mechanic.

Call the private mechanic to price the repairs and maintenance. The private mechanic may need you to bring your sedan in to their garage in order to give you a good estimate of the repair cost. When speaking to them, ask if the mechanic is ASE certified.

Choose the best price between the dealership and private mechanic to have your repairs and maintenance done to your sedan.
