Competing in a minivan rally can be a great family activity that is fun for the whole neighborhood. While rally race rules vary from each event, there are a few simple steps to every rally. Here's how to have fun and compete in a minivan rally.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check all your safety equipment. Do a pre-trip inspection of all the safety features on your minivan. Make sure to include brake lights and turn signals, tire pressure, oil level and washer fluid level in your inspection.

  2. Step 2

Make the interior comfortable. You are sure to have some fast food wrappers accumulate during the race, so take the time beforehand and give the interior a thorough scrub down. Don't forget to vacuum out the cracker crumbs in your baby's car seat.

  3. Step 3

Register and pay the entry fee. In some cases this will be for a good cause such as your church's mission trip or the local children's hospital. Part of the rally fee may be for a cookout afterward.

  4. Step 4

Start your minivan engines. In most cases this rally is going to be a short trip around your neighborhood in search of hidden clues or searching for the answer to some silly riddle. Remind the kids to keep their eyes peeled for the answers to the riddles.

  5. Step 5

Run the race with safety in mind. Although some friendly competition is fun for everyone, no one wants to see any crumpled minivan fenders during the rally. Obey all traffic signals and traffic signs. Also make sure you are not going over the posted speed limit, you may get a ticket or worse yet, you might get disqualified!

  6. Step 6

Finish up with a picnic. No matter what the outcome, some great family fun is in order! Take the kids to the park and reflect on what a great time of fellowship you've had.
