A kit car is a special project that people take pride in accomplishing. If you do not have the skills, time or desire to build your own kit car, you may be able to buy one for yourself at a kit car show. Be prepared to pay a high price for a kit car at a car show if you are looking to buy. It may be cheaper for you to pay someone to build a kit car for you rather than buying one at a show.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a kit car show that displays the model car you are looking for.

  2. Step 2

Research online the price of the kit car you want to buy.

  3. Step 3

Learn how many hours it will take for a person to build the kit car you are looking to purchase.

  4. Step 4

Go to the kit car show and find the kit car you want to buy.

  5. Step 5

Talk to the owner of the kit car and see if they want to sell the kit car—if so, for how much. Dicker over the price of the kit car and show that you know how much the kit car cost and how many hours it took to put together.

  6. Step 6

Walk away and think about if you really want to pay the price the kit car owner offered.

  7. Step 7

Make a decision on whether you want to buy the kit car right at that moment or not.

  8. Step 8

Take the personal information from the kit car owner if you decide not to buy right at that moment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go prepared to buy your kit car—owners do not want to waste their time with people who are not serious. Bring cash if you have it—you may be able to get a lower price if you can pay with cash instead of a check. Do your research. Talk knowledgeably about the kit car you want.
