Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Kit car
- Internet access
- Phone book
- Access to local kit car clubs
- Make and model of your engine
Step1
Get the make and model information off of your engine. This will be required to get anyone to work on the care. If they don't know what kind of engine it is and who made it, it will be difficult to repair or even get parts for it.
Step2
Use the phone book to look for mechanics that deal with the manufacturer of your engine. These will be your best bet at professional help for whatever is ailing your car.
Step3
Join a local kit car club. The members of these clubs are frequently mechanics themselves. They are also experienced in the way kit cars are usually cobbled together from other vehicles. Sometimes they will do a better job of repairing your car than a pro will.
Step4
Search the Internet for kit car forums. There is a vast amount of information to be found in these forums and the users are more than happy to be of help. You may find someone who's had the same problem you are currently experiencing.
Step5
Look online for automotive websites dealing with mechanics. One good one is TrustYourMechanic (see link below). These websites will help you in finding a local mechanic, or at least answers as to what's going on with your car.
