Rallies, races, shows or just a nice ride on a Sunday afternoon-- the world of antique and classic cars is a hobby and pastime enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Prices range from $5,000 to over $100,000, depending on the kind of car and its condition. To find an antique or classic car, the Internet is the most efficient place to start.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Do some research to figure out what kind of antique or classic car to buy. The cars are often grouped into categories, such as those made before 1945 (antiques) and the ones made after 1945 up to 1979 (classics). There is a wide range of other categories such as trucks, hot rods and the ever-popular Corvette. Cruise through websites offering antique and classic cars for sale to see what grabs your attention.

  2. Step 2

Talk to people in a local antique car club. Often these clubs will have cars on display at special community events, and members are always happy to talk about how to find the car of your dreams!

  3. Step 3

Decide on a geographic area in order to limit the search. For instance, some may not mind driving to a city 100 miles away to see a car, while others wish to shop closer to home.

  4. Step 4

Locate newspapers from all the communities within the geographic search area and look through classified sections. Antique and classic cars are advertised here.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not buy a car without seeing it or driving it. Even if you are interested in buying a car to restore, it is important to know what you are getting.
  • Ask an expert to come along to assess an antique or classic car.
