Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research the qualifications required to fill your desired manufacturing job. Look on Careerbuilder or Monster to view different job ads for manufacturing. Acquire the appropriate skills and experience necessary to be hired into manufacturing. Some manufacturing jobs require experience working at a rapid pace, while others require skills such as the ability to read blueprints.

  2. Step 2

Obtain the appropriate education and training. Companies hiring manufacturing workers prefer to hire those with a high school diploma or GED. Whether or not you will need education beyond high school depends on the specific manufacturing position. Graduation from a technical school or a college degree is required for positions like mechanical maintenance and electrical maintenance. A degree in business management or a related field is required for many management positions.

  3. Step 3

Prepare yourself physically for the demands of manufacturing work. Some positions in a manufacturing environment require you to be on your feet for long periods of time. Get yourself into shape and build endurance through exercising.

  4. Step 4

Psych yourself up mentally for manufacturing work. Talk to people who already work in a manufacturing environment about a typical work day. Often, a work day consists of repetitive manual tasks on an assembly line. Adjust your expectations according to the realities of the job duties.
