1. Start with your local yellow pages to find a nearby office supply store. Sure the selection is more limited than what you many find online, but returns will be easier and you can probably get a mount preassembled.

2. Call the company that manufactured your overhead projector. They will have recommendations on whether a ceiling or wall mount would be best. They'll also know where your nearest store is.

3. Search large online stores. Almost all major online stores sell overhead projectors and projector mounts. These major stores are dependable, but they might not have the selection you want.

4. Try an online store that specializes in audio-visual equipment. If you're nervous about working with a small online shop, you can always look them up under the Better Business Bureau to see if the store has any complaints registered against it. These specialty stores will have the widest selection in one place.

5. Look through local classified ads in your newspaper and craigslist. There might be a teacher or business office in your area that is looking to sell their overhead projector mount. Even if it's sold by the time you call, you can always ask them where they found their mount.
