Fantasy horseracing is an up-and-coming game that is starting to gain the popularity of other online fantasy sports such as football and baseball. While fantasy horseracing doesn't work off real events like most fantasy sports, it does allow you to create your own virtual stable of horses and race them against other fantasy owners for real money. To get started in fantasy horseracing, follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a site offering fantasy or virtual horseracing. A simple search engine search should point you in the right direction. Most fantasy horseracing sites require you to deposit money.

  2. Step 2

Create and name your virtual stable. You'll need a place to breed and train your winning horses. Your stable name will be the way other fantasy horseracing participants will recognize you as the competition.

  3. Step 3

Design your racing silks. You racing silks become a sort of flag for your stable, your horses and your jockey.

  4. Step 4

Breed your horse, virtually speaking. You can select the color, sex, age and name of your horse.

  5. Step 5

Train your horse to be a winner. You can train your horse every day to see if he likes to run or likes to stand around. The better the training, the better your chances of winning the prize money.

  6. Step 6

Enter your horse in her first race to see if she can compete. You'll probably want to test your horse on several surfaces, including dirt, turf and mud, to see which fits her style of running the best. If your horse wins, you collect the cash prize.

Tips & Warnings
  • Purchase several horses, so you'll be able to race them on different tracks and against different competition. Just like real horses, fantasy horses have their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Get to know your fantasy horse and what kind of training and races he likes and dislikes. The more you know about your horse, the better chance you have of entering him in a race he can win.
  • Not all of the horses you buy are going to be winners. Once you start to train them, you'll learn whether they have potential.
  • This is a real-money game with a chance of losing real money. If you have a gambling problem, seek help immediately.
