How to Plan a Casual Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner is generally held after the wedding rehearsal has taken place. This gives an opportunity for all parties involved in the wedding to get a chance to know one another before the big day arrives. Making plans to have a casual wedding rehearsal dinner can reduce expenses and stress related to a big formal dinner.

1. Determine the budget for the dinner. It is customary for the parents of the groom to foot the bill on this one, but if they are unable to, prepare a financial plan. It would also be courteous to get the groom's parents suggestions of where they think the festivities should take place.

2. Count how many people will be attending. Generally the parties participating in the wedding should be in attendance at the rehersal dinner with their immediate relatives, such as a sibling or spouse. Get an accurate count to ensure you have enough goodies.

3. Decide on the environment. Having a causal dinner is typically less expensive than a formal one. Be sure to keep in mind of things you can do in jeans and a shirt, such as a barbecue, a buffet restaurant, or at a pizza place with rides and games.

4. Send out invitations at your own discretion. If you decide to send them, they can be informal. You can print out your own invitations from your PC, give the intended guests a call a week or so before the dinner, or send a group email. Be sure to give them plenty of time to prepare for the rehearsal dinner and inform them that it will be casual.
