You're relaxing on vacation and when you get to the hotel room, all you can do is toss and turn. Suddenly you are not relaxed anymore and you can't fall asleep. Well, have no fear. If you follow these instructions, you can fall asleep anywhere.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Make sure that when you attempt to fall asleep you are actually tired. If you are still wide awake you will not be able to unwind. Trying to force yourself to fall asleep just leads to frustration and anxiety.
Step2
Adjust the temperature in the room to a comfortable level. If it is too hot or too cold, as it usually is in hotels, you will be miserable and unable to fall asleep. Call the front desk if you need help adjusting the temperature.
Step3
Use earplugs. It is really hard to fall asleep with the party going on next door or the kids running around having fun. Earplugs can help block out the noise so you can fall asleep fast.
Step4
Turn the dial on the radio to a smooth jazz and lull yourself to sleep. Anywhere you go there are smooth jazz stations available.
Step5
Try yoga exercise. It will soothe your mind and your body making for a good, restful sleep. A great sleep remedy is Viparita Karani, available on the Yoga Journal website.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid taking sleeping pills to fall asleep anywhere. Some are highly addictive and leave you feeling worse when you wake up.
