As a homeowner, you will undoubtedly have general maintenance items that need to be done from time to time. Giving your house siding either a fresh coat of paint or a brand new color is a project that takes time and planning. Siding with a fresh coat of paint will make your house look new again.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Exterior paint
  • Paint brushes
  1. Step 1

Choose an exterior paint color that you would like your siding to be. Home improvement stores, such as Lowe's, have a vast paint selection with various color options to choose from. You can ask one of the store's knowledgeable sales staff to help you select a good exterior paint.

  2. Step 2

Work in small sections and begin painting the edges of the siding first. Use only a small amount of paint on the brush bristles. Only paint across three or four boards at a time to keep the painted area manageable and avoid paint drips.

  3. Step 3

Continue by painting the surface of the siding once a section of edges has been completed. Use a heavier amount of paint on the brush, tapping the brush on the side of the bucket so the paint is heavier on one side of the brush. Spread the paint from side to side if the siding is horizontally hung. Spread it up and down if the siding is vertically hung.

  4. Step 4

Repeat painting small sections of the siding edges and then the siding surfaces until the entire project is completed.
