Canadian Geese have become a major problem for home owners. These birds have invaded communities, polluted yards with poop and generally made a nuisance of themselves. Fortunately, if you have a goose problem you don't have to tolerate them any longer, there are humane ways to rid yourself of your goose problem.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine what type of Canadian Geese you have. If your geese only stay in your yard for a day or two, then they are probably the migrating version and they will leave on their own. However, if your Canadian Geese have set up shop in your yard or neighborhood then they are a non-migrating variety. These you will have to deal with in order to get rid of them.

  2. Step 2

Enlist the help of a herding dog. Herding dogs, like collies, have been very effective at getting rid of Canadian Geese. They herd the geese until the geese get fed up and move on to a new location.

  3. Step 3

Buy a goose repellent. There are several chemical repellents on the market that you can buy. These products use biodegradable, non-toxic substance that taste and smell bad to the geese. This is a very effective method for getting rid of Canadian Geese.

  4. Step 4

Rid your yard of Canadian Geese using audio repellents. Audio repellents use Canadian Geese warning and danger calls to scare away geese. This is a very humane way to get rid of your yard invaders. You will need to buy one audio repellent system for each 5 to 7 acres of land.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some states have laws against chasing off Canadian Geese once they have nested. Because of this you will want to make sure that you implement your strategies to get rid of the geese in your yard before they build a nest and lay eggs.

on 9/25/2009 We had a Canadian Goose problem because there is a small lake behind our property. However, my husband used a gas remote control monster truck called 'Terra Crusher' to scare them away. The amazing thing is that not only did they leave but they never came back to our property. Our neighbor asked my husband to try to scare them off their property with the remote control truck because the geese were swimming in their pool. The geese left their property and never returned. It has been over a year and not one goose has return to either our properties. I just wanted to share this information because it worked so well for us.

on 7/16/2008 My friend from high school sells a hand held laser device (www.googbyegeese.com) that freaks out the geese and they fly away immediately. The nice thing is you can clear an entire pond or several acres while standing in one spot. The laser is pretty strong, but will not harm human or animal eyes.
