Finance is a broad term used to describe careers that focus on the ways organizations and individuals raise, allocate and utilize their money. Finance-related fields include banking, accounting, venture capital and mortgaging. There are many different career paths in the world of finance that require differing levels of education. A bachelor's degree is recommended for most positions, but it is not required for all jobs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Decide which branch of finance you want to enter. Think about your likes and dislikes. Consider the areas of personal, corporate, public, project or trade finance. Different career paths require different levels of education. Learn what the education requirements are for the path you want to follow.
Step2
Visit your alma mater and inquire about their career services placement. Most institutions offer students and graduates assistance and resources for obtaining employment in their fields. See what is available to you.
Step3
Join a professional organization related to your particular branch of finance. Professional organizations offer networking opportunities, additional educational training and even job listings to their members. The American Academy of Financial Management is a good place to start exploring.
Step4
Visit the website of specific companies or financial firms you are interesting in working with. Check to see if they have any positions available. Ask if they have internship opportunities.
Step5
List your resume online with sites like CareerBuilder.com or Monster.com. While there, search the globe for career opportunities in your specific financial field.
Step6
Browse the classifieds section in the newspaper. Start with your local paper, but if you don't mind relocating, browse through newspapers from other cities while online. When looking, check more than the finance section. Look through related fields such as accounting and banking.
Step7
Apply at a temporary employment or staffing agency. Some agencies specialize in hiring finance professionals. Some positions they fill begin as part-time or temporary and end up being full-time permanent.
