Complete the "Application for Assignment to Housing" form, DD1746.

Send the application to the Family Housing Office by 1) mailing form DD1746 to United States Marine Corps, Military Housing Dept., Family Housing Division, PSC 561 BOX 1884, FPO AP 96310-0009, 2) faxing form DD1746 to DSN 253-6521 or COMM (011)81-827-79-6521 or 3) emailing form DD1746 to HousingSMB@iwakuni.usmc.mil.

Report to the Family Housing Office at MCAS Iwakuni after reporting for duty with form DD1746, a copy of your orders, area clearance, tour conversion and port call date.

Anticipate being put on a waiting list for base housing. The Family Referral Office will put you in contact with local rental agents and walk you through the rental process for families who have not been assigned base housing within 60 days.

Your family may have to wait for base housing for up to 12 months, so be prepared to find temporary housing in the Japanese, civilian communities surrounding the base.
