How to Make a Look Book
A look book is used by professionals to show off a product line, much like a catalog. Often used by fashion designers, a look book is like a portfolio. Instead of representing the entire work history of a professional, it represents one line of products, such as a spring fashion line. Follow the tips below for making a look book.

1
Use a 3-ring binder. Using a binder allows items to be looked at, added, removed or rearranged easily. If using a 3-ring binder, put photos and sketches into plastic sleeves to avoid wearing the pictures.
-
2
Don't include every piece of work done. Narrow the subjects down to the best sketches, most successful creations and the widest variety.
-
-
3
Choose the best pictures and sketches to represent the work done. Place the items on the same page, or as close as possible so they can be viewed at the same time.
-
4
Include sketches, photos and swatches. The photos represent the original ideas and intention of the designer. The photos will represent how accurately the ideas are realized. The swatches are to show the person viewing the samples the color and texture of the fabric, since photos and sketched don't always accurately depict.
-
5
Place the items in a logical order. The look book should tell a sort of story that flows as the book is flipped through. Each time the viewer looks at a new picture, it needs to be in the context of what was just looked at on the previous page, and what will be looked at on the next page.
