When choosing a way to organize the photos for your scrapbook album, decide the purpose of the scrapbook. Telling a story through chronological events or portraying a single event through a multitude of photos and memorabilia are a couple of ways to capture your memories. Be creative and find a layout that will help you remember the events and people in your life the way you want them remembered.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Trips and Vacations Scrapbook Album

Step1
Gather items that represent the various trips and vacations that you have been on (photos, souvenirs, maps, brochures, airline tickets, park passes).
Step2
Purchase a vacation-themed scrapbooking kit or make unique pages of your own.
Step3
Include journaling to capture your memories from each trip.

Baby Book Scrapbook Album

Step1
Organize photos chronologically by firsts or events, such as birthdays, christening, holidays and so forth.
Step2
Include embellishments that will remind you of your child at a certain age or that compliment your pictures. Embellishments can be purchased at a craft store. Good examples are diaper pins, bottles, candles, ribbons and buttons.
Step3
Keep a journal of baby's firsts and add these to the album with the pictures or keepsakes that you have of the event. Pouches purchased at scrapbook supply or craft stores are especially helpful in keeping small items, such as hair from first haircut or first tooth, in your album.

Heritage and Family History Scrapbook Album

Step1
Create a family tree album by gathering photos and names of all family members you want to include in your scrapbook album.
Step2
Preserve the look of your old photos by copying them in black and white and using decorative scissors to edge your photos, or simply tear the edges to achieve the look that you want.
Step3
Include pictures of family heirloom items that correspond with the generation that it originated from.

Other Scrapbook Album Organizing Ideas

Step1
Capture memories of all holidays or annual events in a scrapbook album. You can organize them by year or event.
Step2
Create a recipe scrapbook album that can be contributed to by friends and family.
Step3
Give a scrapbook album as a gift for the special people in your life to capture memorable events such as a wedding, baby shower or family reunion.

Tips & Warnings
