How to Work a Combination Lock
For children just leaving elementary school, they should know how to use a combination lock. I remember I had quite a lot of trouble with my lock. Hopefully, this will help her/him.

Instructions

1
Pick up a combination lock.
-
2
Turn your combination lock three or more times to the right. Stop on the first number in the combination. It is okay if you slow down.
-
3
Turn the lock to the left, passing the second number only once. Once you get around to it the second time, stop turning.
-
4
Turn to the lock to the right stopping on the last number. DO NOT PASS THE THIRD NUMBER ANY NUMBER OF TIMES!

Tips & Warnings
When your child is in second cemster, 5th Grade, you should buy him a lock to practice on then. With certain kids, it takes very long to master.
Take of the sticker that says the combination on the back. If not, any one could turn it over and find out your combination.
Do not tell ANYONE your combination, not even to your friends. Middle school is a time that you lose some friends because of arguments. He/She could get mad at you and break into your locker.
If your friend ever does tell you his/her combination, do not, under any sercumstances, ever, ever, ever break into their locker.

I have to tell you that this is the first time I looked for a 'how-to' on eHow. I just couldn't remember which way to turn and how. I guess it's been a long time since 6th grade - the last time I used one! Thanks for the info... -

sometimes if one of the numbers is close to zero, you might need to turn it one extra time after that number. -
