Instructions
  1. Step 1

Study the YHRI website to learn about the group's mission and activities (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Read L. Ron Hubbard's "Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought" to get perspective on how YRHI fits into the Church of Scientology's mission (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Discuss your decision with your parents before you sign up to join Youth for Human Rights International. You don't need their permission to join, but this may help you spark dialogue about relevant world topics.

  4. Step 4

Join Youth for Human Rights International at the YHRI Become a Member Webpage (see Resources below). You will need to provide your name, address, email and other personal contact information to be listed as a part of the national member directory.

  5. Step 5

Continue to broaden your understanding of human rights by reading on the web and in your daily newspaper. Quiz yourself daily on world events.

  6. Step 6

Sign the Petition for the Declaration of Universal Human Rights online and encourage your friends and classmates to join you (see Resources below). You may want to check with your school first before activating students to join you, though, to secure permission for these activities.

  7. Step 7

Tell your classmates about the organization you have joined and discuss its goals and background with them. Brainstorm with your classmates about the best ways to have a positive impact on human rights issues that interest you.
