  2. Step 2

Get a copy of the U.S. Constitution and familiarize yourself with the Bill of Rights, to compare the founders' vision with the NYRA agenda (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Join the National Youth Rights Association by going to the NYRA membership web page (see Resources). Fill out your personal contact information and either pay $10 dues or agree to volunteer 2 hours for NYRA. A third option allows you to ask another member to sponsor you.

Check the website after you join to see if their is a chapter in your area. Consider contacting chapter leaders to give them a heads up that you are a member so you can be kept in the loop on future events.

  5. Step 5

Participate in NYRA events to make your membership more meaningful and increase NYRA's impact on public policy. As a NYRA member, you will receive the newsletter and email notices of upcoming events.

  6. Step 6

Volunteer to begin a NYRA chapter in your area if none exist. To do this, contact the national office through the website and submit a formal application for a new charter. This application should include your contact information, program goals, anticipated group membership numbers and preliminary funding budget.
