If you've ever had a brush with the unexplained, you're far from alone. Since the beginning of recorded history, there have been countless reports of unexplained phenomena from all around the world. Paranormal phenomena can be broadly classified in four categories: earth mysteries, human mysteries, ghosts and UFOs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Learn More About Earth Mysteries

Step1
Identify ancient power sites, such as the pyramids of Egypt and Central America, which are claimed to have mysterious powers. However, other enduring earth mysteries include ley lines--hidden energy pathways existing beneath the earth's surface--and anomalous zones like the Bermuda Triangle.
Step2
Understand the paranormal phenomenon of cattle mutilations. Since about the 1970s, ranchers all over North and South America have reported strange cattle deaths.
Step3
Penetrate the enduring puzzle of crop circles. Many people are convinced that crop circles are actually cryptic messages from extraterrestrials.

Learn More About Human Mysteries

Step1
Differentiate between the different types of extrasensory perception (ESP). Telepathy occurs when two people share thoughts or communicate across long distances without the use of the 5 usual senses.
Step2
Identify other major types of ESP. Telekinesis is the alleged ability to manipulate physical objects using only the power of one's mind. Precognition and retrocognition refer to the ability to see future and past events, respectively.

Learn More About Ghosts

Step1
Know the warning signs that a ghost may be present, including unexplained chills or cold spots in the air, coupled with a sense of being watched. Unexplained occurrences, such as objects moving by themselves, lights going on and off or doors opening and closing on their own typically accompany ghost encounters.
Step2
Identify the two types of ghosts: those who interact with their environment, and those who do not. In the first case, it is common for an unresolved life issue to be driving the ghost's return. In the latter case, the person may have died unexpectedly and appears trapped in the place where he passed away.

Learn More About UFOs

Step1
Realize that tales of UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors span back thousands of years. Many ancient cultures tell tales of otherworldly astronauts visiting them to donate technology and/or impart wisdom and knowledge.
Step2
Learn more about the lesser-known phenomena associated with UFOs. In particular, the phenomenon of "missing time" has received considerable attention. Missing time occurs when a person encountering a UFO suddenly realizes he has no memory of the past few hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check locally for sites of paranormal interest and any available ghost tours. Many regions with a history of unexplained activity offer guided tours.
