Things You'll Need:
- Barometer
- 35mmm camera
-
Step 1
Equip yourself with a barometer. Barometric pressure is said to be affected by ghostly activity, so this tool may help you know if there are any spirits at the site that you're touring.
-
Step 2
Carry a camera to capture the ghoulish fun. A 33mm camera is best. Use black and white film with a shutter speed of at least 400 for optimum clarity.
-
Step 3
Tour the Eliza Thompson House. Built in 1847, this location has been home to sightings of Confederate soldiers. Some have also reported seeing a young girl clad in white roaming the hallways.
-
Step 4
Say hello to Hank, a well-known Savannah spirit, at the Olde Harbour Inn. This inn is said to be haunted by a ghost who makes his presence known via cigar smoke and the dropping of coins, among other things.
-
Step 5
Spend some quality time with Charly at the East Bay Inn. Built in 1852, this inn is reportedly home to a ghost, given the name Charly by the staff. A guest is said to have captured Charly on camera a few years ago, and the photograph is available at the front desk.
-
Step 6
Head for the Owen-Thomas House. This house was built in 1819, and is said to be home to at least one spirit--the deceased Miss Margaret Thomas, who was granddaughter to Congressman George Owens.
-
Step 7
Experience the Hampton-Lillibridge House. This house--one of only a few that made it through Savannah's Great Fire of 1820--was home to a man who was tried three times for murder and also hosted a hanging when a sailor committed suicide in this manner in one of its rooms. A 1963 exorcism--clearly unsuccessful--was performed in the house by an Episcopal bishop.
