Step 1
Start with your feet parallel and shoulder width apart. Relax your shoulders and bend your knees a little bit.
-
Step 2
Jump a little. You will only leave the ground for a split second, but the dance will need the jumping effect to look right.
-
Step 3
Stick your right foot out no more than six inches forward and land so that your weight is on the heel of your right foot and the ball of your left food.
-
Step 4
Jump again and return your feet to the starting position. Do not land completely flat footed, but keep your weight always on either the heel or ball of your feet.
-
Step 5
Jump again and stick your left foot out. Land so that your weight falls on the heel of your left foot and the ball of your right foot.
-
Step 6
Jump again, returning to the starting position, and repeat the process. You can mix up the order sometimes, as it does not always have to go right, left, right, left.
-
Step 7
Start to move as you C-walk. When you jump and step forward with your right foot, have your left foot follow your right foot forward part of the way. Do the same thing when you step forward with your left foot.
-
Step 8
Try and bend your knees more and more, especially when you jump back to the neutral position. You will notice that bent knees are bouncier and therefore make the dance seem more fluid.
-
Step 9
Raise your arms up shoulder length when you Crip Walk. Your elbows should be bent at about a 90-degree angle and your arms should be bouncing freely as you jump.
-
Step 10
Mix things up once you get good at the basics. Straighten your legs out sometimes, as long as you do not lose the fluid motion. Jump higher and further every once in a while to skip a beat.
