2. Click through the Start menu to the "Activate Windows" menu option.

3. Click "Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now."

4. Read the Privacy Statement before you finish activation and click "Next."

5. Choose whether you wish to register. Registering your copy of Windows XP will give you access to the latest information regarding updates for the software.

6. Click "Next."

7. Click "OK" once your copy of Windows XP has been activated, completing the process.

Activate Windows XP by Telephone

8. Access the "Activate Windows" application.

9. Click the "Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now" button.

10. Get the telephone number needed to activate Windows XP by phone from the following menu. This number is different from region to region.

11. Contact Microsoft customer service to complete activation. The customer service representative will walk you through the rest of the activation process.
