This article will teach you how to make ( what my grandmother called it) Seven Minute Frosting. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 Egg whites
  • 1 1/2 Cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon of light corn syrup
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • Double boiler
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl(s)
  • Electric mixer

Instructions

      Fill bottom of double boiler with water, leave an inch and a half room to top of rim. Heat the water on the stove top at medium/high heat until boiling. In top of double boiler pan (not on stove yet) combine 2 egg whites, 1 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon of light corn syrup. Use your mixer to combine ingredients are mixed thoroughly.

      Once thoroughly mixed place top pot on to rapidly boiling water on stove. Stir constantly will on heat and cook for 7 minutes or until frosting will stand in peaks.

      Remove from boiling water and add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat with mixer until thick enough to spread (will take a few minutes!) This recipe makes enough to cover two 9 inch layer cakes or 2 dozen cup cakes.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can vary the frosting flavor by mixing in coconut flakes, melt semi sweet chocolate chips, or what ever comes to mind. Mix it in when you add the vanilla.
