    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Vinyl Repair Patch Kit
    • Pool with hole
      • 1

First if your whole is bigger then a nickel your repair is beyond the scope of this article and may just want to buy a new pool.

      • 2

Dry the area on the pool that has a hole.

      • 3

Using your repair kit, gently scratch the surface with an abrasive pad.

      • 4

Cut out and hold a patch that is slightly large then the hole, the bigger the patch the better because it provides a larger surface area for the patch to hold. Note: I would not use a patch that is more then double the size of the whole as it could be difficult to set.

      • 5

Apply a light layer of vinyl repair glue around the perimeter of the hole, be sure to use a repair kit, as some glues can be toxic or not hold up in water.

Hold patch in place (you may want to use gloves to keep glue off your hands) for the drying time specified on the package. Typically the better the seal the longer the patch will hold up.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you purchased a really cheap pool, your patch repair kit may cost more then a new pool.

    • If you are using a pool with a liner the patch will very likely not hold up to the increased pressure and the glue will peel lose, replace the liner instead.

    • Glue can stick to your fingers be careful, also make sure you are in a well ventilated area.
