If you are taking a holiday in Northern Ireland, visit the Giant’s Causeway. One of the most stunning landscapes in the world caused by a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago and the setting of Northern Ireland’s only geological World Heritage site.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Enjoy Ireland as a great place to take a few weeks holiday or even just a weekend break. The country has great natural beauty spots, friendly locals, and great pubs and nightlife. Around half a million tourists a year visit the Giant’s Causeway and if you are in Northern Ireland make sure it’s on your list of things to see.
Step2
Get a cheap flight to Ireland. Buy a ticket directly from Ryanair (see Resources below) who fly from major airports to Ireland at least six times a day. Ryanair have flights to Ireland from as low as a £1 plus taxes.
Step3
Visit the Giant’s Causeway by stopping off at the World Heritage Site run by the National Trust. The official address is Giant’s Causeway, 44a Causeway Road, Bushmills, County Antrim, BT57 8SU. Admission to the site is free and you can email queries or questions to giantscauseway@nationaltrust.org.uk.
Step4
Find the Tourist Information offices, audio-visual presentations giving history on the Causeway, a Bureau De Change office, tea rooms and an accommodation booking service. The centre is open from 10am to 5pm, seven days per week. You can also take a guided tour that lasts approximately two hours.
Step5
Prepare yourself for a heart-stopping view. The Causeway is often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. The Causeway itself is made up of 40,000 hexagonal red columns that jut up dramatically and were caused by ancient volcanic action.
Step6
Listen to the legend of Finn MacCool when you visit the Giant’s Causeway as the tale gives the Causeway an added charm for which the Irish are famous.
