Get Farmers Fare at the Lancashire Food Festival

Lancashire is famous for its cheese and hotpots, but like any patriot from the area would say, there's more to their food than just that. From the beginning of April to the 23rd of the month, Lancashire shows off its range of goods at the Lancashire food festival. The following steps show you how to get away from the tourist traps of the marquees and get quality fare at the farm markets.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to Fleetwood Farmer's Market on the 15th of April. For more information, phone 01253 771 651.

  2. Step 2

Visit Salwick Farmer's Market on the 16th of April. This market is situated on Cunliffe Fold farm and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact 01772 690 622.

  3. Step 3

Colne Farm market is also open on the 16th in the Colne market square. Contact 01282 661 240.

  4. Step 4

On the 17th, go to Merchant of Houghton farmer's market at Hought Tower. For more information, contact 01254 852 986.

  5. Step 5

Visit Accrington Town Hall in Accrington from the 21st to the 22nd of April, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is main part of the festival; the weekend traditionally starts with a custard throwing contest. Additionally, there is a food stall inside the town hall that sells farmers products such as homemade ice cream and a marquee outside that has traditional Lancashire black pudding along with the famous Lancashire cheeses.

Tips & Warnings
  • The main part of the festival is the weekend of the 21st, but the food festival is throughout April.
