Step 1
Invite friends and family over. It doesn't have to be a big deal, it can be coffee, tea and sweets. Togetherness is the most important part of the holidays, and remembering that will help capture the Christmas spirit. And not just on Christmas day.
-
Step 2
Find faith in the holidays. If you have steered away from church, the holidays may be just the time to find it again. Being in a place to discuss the meaning of Christmas will help you capture that Christmas feeling.
-
Step 3
Sing carols. Remember being a kid and singing "Jingle Bells" at the top of your lungs? Have that fun all over again, and don't feel shy about the joy it brings you. If people see you enjoying yourself, they may join in.
-
Step 4
Donate your time or money. There are always those that are less fortunate, and it isn't only around the holidays. So take your time and money, and give it to those who need it. This may spark an inspiration to do it all year long.
-
Step 5
Decorate your home or office. This doesn't mean be a gaudy Christmas decorator, but a nice wreath and some simple lights add a nice touch. It needs to look different in order for you to feel different.
-
Step 6
Send out personal cards. Either hand make Christmas cards, or take some from the store and write a nice personal note to those that you really care about. This can help you capture the spirit of Christmas, and it may help someone else find it, too.
-
Step 7
Find the snow. If you're not in an area that gets snow during the winter, consider taking a trip to the mountains to see the white splendor. It will take your breath away.
