Instructions
  1. Step 1

Count the colors. You only have to count to one. Chartreux are single-colored cats that are any shade of blueish gray.

  2. Step 2

Smile back. This breed is known for looking like it's smiling.

  3. Step 3

Evaluate the facial features. Chartreux cats have rounded heads and narrow muzzles. There are small ledges at the eye level of their straight noses. The ears are high on the head and pointed.

  4. Step 4

Look him in the eyes. The eyes of a Chartreux are rounded, with the corners curving slightly up and a gold or copper hue.

  5. Step 5

Stretch your fingers. The thick double coat on these cats is treated best not when you brush it, but when you occasionally run your fingers through it.

  6. Step 6

Turn on the television. These cats in very interested in what you are doing. They have been known to enjoy watching the television or computer. They will also try and participate by biting cords or stepping in the way.

  • These playful cats often have short bursts of energy—followed by short naps or periods of immobility.

on 8/20/2009 We found Dulce on our deck this past winter. She was in a terrible state, only her voice and her eyes showed she was alive. Now she is a beautiful, robust female cat.
She is completely grey, her coat has silver reflexes and her nose and paw pads are black. She is talking all the time!! She is shy though and she is hiding all day from the kids until they are going to sleep. After that is her time! She is our little bat! I would like just to know if she is a Chartreux! Either way she is ours to love and enjoy for the sweet cat that she is!
