1
Formulate some goals. Determine why you want to create a new fitness program for yourself. You might be trying to lose weight, gain weight or build endurance. All will lead to different types of exercise programs.
-
2
Define what types of exercises you will pursue. Meet with a personal trainer to discuss options when you create your program. Or, visit a fitness store and try out various types of equipment to find out what's best for you and your fitness level.
-
-
3
Set an exercise schedule. Determine if morning or evening is best for you. Put aside at least 30 to 45 minutes for each exercise session, ideally three times a week.
-
4
Eat healthily. This may seem like a no brainer, but many people fail to realize that eating right is just as important as exercising itself. Document your caloric intake, especially if your exercise goal is to lose weight.
-
5
Keep progressing. Move to the next level every two weeks. For instance, increase the weight you are lifting by 5 pounds or add ΒΌ mile to the treadmill. Progression is a key element of any personal exercise program. Without it, you will fall short of your goals.
