Perhaps no other phrase in the English language can make a college student groan like "term paper." Many students feel overwhelmed at the thought of researching a topic and presenting a well written term paper on their chosen subject. But arranging the task into a few simple steps can help tremendously in writing a college term paper. Following these, any college student can be assured of making the grade!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Narrow the topic of the term paper as much as possible. A more focused idea will assist in research. Choosing a broad topic will present too much information during the research, leaving you feeling too pressured.

  2. Step 2

Set a schedule to work on the term paper. If you have several weeks to complete the paper, do not wait until the last minute. Write every day, even if just making some notes, to stay focused.

  3. Step 3

Organize your notes. Prepare a thesis statement, established in the very first paragraph, that presents your topic and how you are going to explain and define it.

  4. Step 4

Build your arguments. Flesh out your ideas in each paragraph. Write clearly and concisely. Use examples to strengthen what you are writing. Refer to your first paragraph as needed to remain focused on the reason for writing the term paper.

  5. Step 5

Cite your sources. Add a bibliography at the end of the term paper. Use quotes around passages that are not in your own words, and reference the source for the material.

Tips & Warnings
