Want to see a fight where the big guy has no advantage? Check out Hapkido. In this Korean martial art the attacker's energy is diverted and used against him. Physical strength is not essential because techniques focus on using pressure points to subdue an attacker. The idea is to control an attacker's violence or make her incapable of continuing the attack. See Hapkido fighting for yourself with a little searching.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out a local Hapkido do-jang or training hall. Look in the phone book under "martial arts" to find a Hapkido do-jang, then call and see if you can sit in. People will be practicing their techniques and occasionally testing for the next level of belt or trying their skills at tournaments.

  2. Step 2

Look to your local university or college for Hapkido clubs. Many colleges have clubs that promote Hapkido practice techniques and will occasionally travel to tournaments or hold their own.

  3. Step 3

Search the web for Hapkido videos. If there are no tournaments or training centers nearby the next best thing is to watch the action online.

  4. Step 4

Order a Hapkido DVD or video. Bring the Hapkido action home with videos ranging from tournament videos that dazzle with professional moves like huge leaps, flying kicks and somersaults to instructional videos to kick you into your first Hapkido action.
