Birthday Cake made of Candy
Birthday Cake made of Candy

A creative and fun idea for a cute birthday cake made of candy! Try something different next time you need a birthday cake or want to make and give a birthday gift. This gift is made of candy that can be pulled off and eaten.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wrapped candy
  • Round florist foam
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Curly ribbon
  • Cake board
  • Cake box
  1. Step 1

The items you need to make this candy cake can be purchased at stores such as Party City, Joannes Fabrics, Micheals, or Hobby Lobby.

  2. Step 2

Most Florists Rounds come with a clear plastic wrap. Leave the plastic wrap so it will be easier to pull the candy off later. Glue the two Florist Rounds together to make them taller. Also glue the Florist Rounds centered on the round cake board.

  3. Step 3

Start glueing the prewrapped candy around the side of the Florist Rounds until all the sides and top is covered with candy. Glue a Curly Bow Ribbon on the top of the cake.

  4. Step 4

Put the cake in a cardboard cake box and write your birthday message on top of the box! What a great gift! See samples of different cake sizes and candies at www.howsweetofyou.com/candycakes.html

Tips & Warnings
  • Tip: Be careful using a glue gun. Melted glue can burn your fingers if you are not careful!

on 8/22/2007 Yes, the candy can be pulled off and eaten. Be careful and use prewrapped candy and make sure the glue is only on the wrapper. As long as the candy stays covered by the wrapper, the glue won't affect the candy. Bubble gum and tootsie rolls are excellent choices! Good luck!

on 6/29/2007 Love this! Can the candy be pulled off and eaten if it's glued to the florist round? Or are these cakes for display only?
