Kids can help you make this tasty main dish. Served over rice, potatoes, or pasta, it makes a healthy alternative that most kids love!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • weiners, 1 package
  • unsweetened pineapple tidbits, 1 can
  • soy sauce, 2 Tbsp
  • vinegar, 1/4 Cup
  • water, 1 Cup
  • brown sugar, 1/3 Cup
  • cornstarch, 1/4 Cup
  • water (again), 1/3 Cup
  • frying pan
  1. Step 1

Slice weiners lengthwise, so they are no longer round.* Chop weiner strips into about 8 pieces each.

*This is important to reduce the choking hazard - weiners should always be sliced down the centre lengthwise!

  2. Step 2

In the frying pan, combine pineapple (with juice), 1 Cup water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, and weiners. Stir together.

  3. Step 3

On medium heat and stirring frequently, bring to a boil.

While heating, mix cornstarch and 1/3 Cup water thoroughly, then set it aside.

  4. Step 4

Once weiner mixture is boiling, slowly pour cornstarch mixture into it, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until it returns to a boil and begins to thicken.

  5. Step 5

Remove from heat and spoon weiner mixture over rice, potatoes, or pasta.
